Ladies Who Lunch: Whitney Eve Spring 2013!

Shooting into the limelight on MTV’s reality series The Hills, Los Angeles native Whitney Port has always had a passion for fashion.  Parlaying her fame with her experiences working at Teen Vogue and Peoples Revolution PR, Whitney Port began her own Fashion Label Whitney Eve.

The Whitney Eve Spring 2013 Collection mixed soft and tailored looks for a dressed-up attitude with a California ease.  Colors are inspired by precious stones , minerals and rocks, creating a color palette of mostly grays, earth tones, greens, peachy pinks and blues.  Prints are a major part of the collection, mixing the colors in interesting abstract patterns!

Growing up in a family in the Fashion Business, it is no surprise that this twenty-something celeb’s Whitney Eve line  is grounded in focused design for the Spring 2013 Collection.

Ladies Who Lunch: Katya Leonovich Spring 2013!

Katya Leonovich is not only a designer, she is also a painter and that artistic spirit is always present in her collections.

For her Spring 2013 show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Katya Leonovich’s artistry is clearly evident in silhouettes with experimental sculptural drapes and hand painted fabrics and leathers.  The silhouettes also emphasize movement, with charmeuse, taffeta and chiffon fabrics giving the looks a lightness that made them float down the runway.

A color palette of greys mixed with greens, blues, pinks and purples give something for everyone in this Spring Collection.  The hand painted fabrics add dimension to the garments, creating interesting prints that mix all of the colors together.

Katya Leonovich also shows off her sense of humor with the last two garments having the hand painted faces of Obama and Romney on them!

We spoke to designers Steven Cox and Daniel Silver before the show to find out more about their Spring 2013 Duckie Brown Collection.

Designers Steven Cox and Daniel Silver are serious trendsetters for men’s fashion and their Spring 2013 Duckie Brown Collection proved it once again.  With this Collection, they again push the envelope of Men’s Wear, introducing progressive silhouettes and drapes.

While Duckie Brown might be too fashion forward as shown on the runway for more traditional dressers, there are still plenty of pieces in the collection that will appeal to a very wide audience.  And for those who are more daring, the collection presents a lot of must have innovative looks.

A mix of dark denim with red tartan plaid is a definite fresh look for Spring and I can’t wait to get my hands on a Duckie Brown jean jacket!

Ladies Who Lunch: EMERSON Spring 2013!

Boston based EMERSON has been showing its collections at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for several seasons and this cool women’s wear line is gaining a following with celebrities like Paula Abdul, sitting in the front row at the show.  We went backstage before the Spring 2013 show to talk to Jackie Fraser-Swan about her newest collection.

Designer Jackie Fraser-Swan has tapped her creativity to produce consistent collections of beautiful clothes that speak to the modern woman.  The EMERSON look meshes femininity with an edgy strength that makes this label stand out.

For EMERSON Spring 2013, Jackie Fraser-Swan took her inspiration from 1970’s Horror Films, with her biggest inspiration being the movie “Carrie”.  The 70’s influence was very evident in the silhouettes and fabrics, but in a modern way that looks right for now.  While there was plenty of black and white in the collection, there were also beautiful prints and pops of color like a bright blue and a vibrant red.

With such an unexpected inspiration, the EMERSON Spring 2013 is a fun very wearable collection and the show was packed with surprises from the beginning to the end!
