Ladies Who Lunch: Francesca Liberatore Fall/Winter 2017!

Italian designer Francesca Liberatore may be young, but don’t let that youth fool you.  Francesca Liberatore has already proven herself to have the skills of a designer twice her age and her Fall 2017 Collection is further proof.

Taking her inspiration from Franklin Roosevelt, the underlying theme of the Fall 2017 Collection is politics, power and how they shape our worlds.  In the current political climate, this collection uses this theme to construct a collection that highlights a woman’s strength, while also acknowledging her femininity.

The collection blends structured fabrics with lighter fabrics, highlighting the struggle between strength and femininity.  With a nod towards lingerie, Francesca Liberatore shows the softer feminine side with lace, pairing it with fabrics like luxe velvets for a look that conveys how the two attributes can exist together in harmony.

I have admired Francesca Liberatore’s work since her first New York Fashion Week show and this Fall 2017 Collection demonstrates how prolific and fascinating Francesca Liberatore is with a collection that uses fashion to make a statement about our current world.

Ladies Who Lunch: Vivienne Tam Fall/Winter 2017

It is no secret that I am a major fan of designer Vivienne Tam.  I love the way she blends eastern and western sensibilities for a style that is truly global and uniquely her own.

Vivienne Tam divides her time between New York and her native city of Hong Kong.  For Fall 2017, Vivienne Tam pays homage to Hong Kong, inspired by its energy and city lights.  A perfect collection to mark the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China.

Vivienne Tam Fall 2017 brings to life her Hong Kong inspiration with prints inspired by its neon signs, metallics, sequins and lamés for a collection that reflects the city’s life and atmosphere. There is even a nod to Hong Kong’s financial district with wonderful menswear inspired fabrics and androgynous silhouettes.

Vivienne Tam has once again created a beautiful and exciting collection for Fall 2017. She not only captures the vibrant city of Hong Kong, but also her own excitement and enthusiasm for her craft.
