For Spring 2014, designer Zang Toi took his inspiration from the ballet, opening his show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week with a performance by Cory Stearns, principal dancer with American Ballet Theater.
True to form, Zang Toi’s Spring 2014 collection displays his skills as a master couturier. From impeccably tailored suits and day wear dresses to stunning evening gowns that take your breath away, Zang Toi’s collection is a testament to the love for his craft.
Designers often take their inspirations too literally and create collections that read more as costumes. But, Zang Toi didn’t fall into that trap. Instead he uses the ballet inspiration to subtly infuse his collection with an elegance, gracefulness and strength that are the signature of the real life ballerinas he takes as his muse.
The color palette is primarily black and navy, but a beautiful pastel blue and a soft ballet pink round out the collection to create a Spring 2014 collection that is a fine balance of sophistication and femininity. The collection also exudes a drama and beauty that makes it unmistakably Zang Toi!
