Ladies Who Lunch: Son Jung Wan Spring 2016!

I was at Korean designer Son Jung Wan’s first New York Fashion Week presentation in February 2011 and I became an immediate fan.  From season to season after that first show, Son Jung Wan has never failed to produce amazing collections, proving my initial instincts were right!

Son Jung Wan creates collections that are always feminine, but the most exciting aspect of her collections is the artistry that she puts into them.  Son Jung Wan’s collections explore creative drapes and silhouettes that are always flattering and combine them with innovative and interesting fabrics.

For Spring 2016, Son Jung Wan drew her inspiration from Korea’s Jeju Island and the nature that is embodied there.  The inspiration led again to artistic drapes and silhouettes and a color palette that is perfect for Spring.

One of the designer’s that I most look forward to each season, Son Jung Wan’s collections never disappoint and remind us that she is not just a designer, but a true artist.

Ladies Who Lunch: Zang Toi Spring 2016!

Sophisticated, elegant, luxurious, beautiful: these are just a few words that describe designer Zang Toi’s collections. This Malaysian born designer has been producing astounding collections for over 25 years and each new collection is as exciting as the previous one.

Zang Toi creates designs that take me back to the reason I first became involved in fashion many years ago and inspired me to be a designer myself.  Zang Toi designs collections that are as functional as they are beautiful.

Zang Toi always creates dramatic collections and the shows that showcase his collections reflect that.  For Spring 2016, Zang Toi took his inspiration from the Greek Island of Santorini.  Zang Toi creates the mood and feeling of his inspiration without being costumey or using clich├ęs, taking the inspirations essence and molding it into beautiful designs.

As with all of Zang Toi’s Collections, Spring 2016 is an awe inspiring collection that prove once again how prolific this designer is!

Ladies Who Lunch: Vivienne Tam Spring 2016!

Known for bridging Eastern and Western culture, Vivienne Tam draws on her Asian heritage for inspiration and then translates it into garments that are a hit in both cultures.  And since it's March, Vivienne Tam's Spring 2016 Collection is hitting stores right now!

Vivienne Tam drew her inspiration for her Spring 2016 collection from a mixture of 1920’s Chinese Art Deco and androgynous dressing which was played with during that era.  The Chinese Art Deco theme brought in bold graphics with images of Art Deco dragons, Mahjong tiles and Deco Peonies.

With 2016 also being the Year of the Monkey, Vivienne Tam also included a signature Monkey graphic in all shapes and sizes and in every medium from print and applique to Swarovski crystals.

I am personally super excited about this collection, because it is the first time that Vivienne Tam has included menswear in her line, giving me the chance to finally be able to wear clothing from one of my favorite designers!  I had to have a Monkey Tee and you will definitely see me sporting Vivienne Tam at events around town!

Ladies Who Lunch: Ready To Fish by Ilja Fall 2015!

Ilja Visser launched her Dutch fashion house in Amsterdam with a couture line that she shows twice a year in Paris.  A few years later, Ilja Visser began her Ready-to-Wear line Ready To Fish to make her designs more accessible.

Ready To Fish is both feminine and edgy, offering contemporary, understated silhouettes.  Ilja Visser’s concept for the collection is to translate self-expression into versatile and wearable designs.

Ilja Visser selects the best fabrics and knits available to create her collections and pays great attention to details not only in the construction, but also with hidden closures and seams, an unexpected mix of materials and special treatments.

Ready To Fish Fall 2015 takes its inspiration from menswear and Ilja Visser uses her special design magic to translate masculine shapes and fabrics into a very feminine very exciting collection.

Ladies Who Lunch: NEGRIS LEBRUM Fall 2015!

I saw the NEGRIS LEBRUM  Collection by Travis Hamilton for the first time in 2012 and was impressed enough that I kept a lookout for when the collection would be shown in New York again.

In the 3 years that had passed since my introduction, Travis Hamilton has grown and NEGRIS LEBRUM has grown with him to become more focused and sophisticated.

Travis Hamilton drew style inspiration from several past decades and mixed it with his theme “Le Noir est Joli”, “Black is Beautiful”.  The NEGRIS LEBRUM Fall 2015 color palette keeps in line with this theme, emphasizing black and shades of grey with white to make them all pop.

It’s great to see NEGRIS LEBRUM showing in New York again and proves once again that it is a collection to keep an eye on!

Ladies Who Lunch: Vivienne Hu Fall 2015!

Designer Vivienne Hu worked in investment banking on Wall Street before following her passion and starting her career in Fashion.  Knowing that fashion was her true calling, Vivienne Hu left the world of finance and attended Parsons School of Design.

A native of China who has opened her company in New York, Vivienne Hu blends her past with her present blending her cultural background of China with the modernity and western sensibility of New York.

Presenting her Fall 2015 Collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Vivienne Hu showed a collection that was geared towards a customer who is as she puts it, fearlessly contemporary, independent yet sexy and feminine.

Vivienne Hu took her inspiration for the Fall 2015 Collection from one of her favorite operas Wagner’s Die Valkyries.  Wagner’s opera inspired a collection that stayed true to Vivienne Hu’s clean silhouettes, while at the same time infusing it with strong colors and a sense of strength.
